After all the problems over the years with teams, players, and referees gambling David Stern made a surprise announcement today.  NBA referees are allowed to gamble.  They are to stay away from the Sportsbook but they can gamble.

 Apparently the NBA didn not allow them to even play the lottery so they eased restrictions ont them.  In the wake of the Tim Donaghy scandle I doubt that this is a good idea.  They still arent even sure if he influenced games.  Also isn’t this like telling a crack addict that they can’t smoke crack but they can smoke weed?  While referees don’t make as much as NBA players they still make more than your average job.  Plus we don’t go to games to watch the Ref’s.  Keep them out of casino’s.  We don’t need more reasons to think the Referee threw the game.
